LADY BEARS OPEN SEASON WITH VICTORY OVER CONCORDIA-SELMA
				
					 
							
				 
				
				
				
			
									
			 FAIRFIELD, AL – Junior guard 
Toccara Charles led four Lady Bear players in double figures as the Miles College basketball team defeated non-conference foe Concordia-Selma College 94-58 at Knox-Windham Gymnasium. 
Miles improved its record to 1-0 and Concordia-Selma dropped to 0-6 on the season. 
The Lady Bears led 37-22 at halftime, but pulled away in the second half by out scoring the Lady Hornets 57-36. Miles shot 43.2% (16-37) from the floor in the first half and Concordia-Selma hit 8-of-32 shots for 25.0 percent. 
For the game, Miles hit 37-of-80 (46.3%) shots from the field, 35.0% (7- 20) in 3-pointers and 46.4 (13-28) at the free throw line. Concordia-Selma was 20-of-63 (31.7%) from the floor, 23.8% from 3-point land and 43.3% at the foul line. 
The Lady Bears out rebounded Concordia-Selma 50-44 and turned the ball over 22 times to 30 for the Lady Hornets. 
Charles led the team with 16 points on 6-of-11 shots and 4-of-8 three's and sophomore center 
Sammeika Thomas scoring a double-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, blocked 4 shots and a team high 4 assist. Sophomore forward 
Jessica Franklin added 12 points, 7 rebounds and freshman guard 
Enrie Samuels and junior guard 
Charlesia Norman each had 11 points and went 3-for-4 at the foul line. Junior guard 
Ashlee Barley grabbed 5 boards and scored another 8 points. 
Alexia Brown led the Lady Hornets with 12 points and Tiffany Hill had 10 rebounds. 
The Lady Bears will be on the road on November 27 and 29, as they play Albany State University and Fort Valley State University.
