LADY BEARS DROP EXHIBITION GAME TO ALABAMA A&M 51-64

Normal, AL – The Miles College Lady Bears basketball team open the season with an exhibition game against the Lady Bulldog of Alabama A&M University, before heading to Salisbury, NC on November 16-17 to play in the Livingston University Tournament. The Lady Bears dropped a 51-64 game to the Alabama A&M at T. M. Gilmore gym.

Miles went to half down 18-33, but outscored A&M 33-31 in the second half.

For the game, Miles hit 18-of-57 ((31.6) shots from the field and 13-of-27 (48.1) free throws, while A&M scored on 24-of-70 shots from the floor and 11-of-20 free throws.

Senior forward Courtney English led the Lady Bears with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assist and 2 steals. Senior center Ra'Shawne Cox, junior guard Enria Samuels and freshman guard Ashley Curry had 8 points each, while Cox and Samuels pulled down 6 and 5 boards apiece. 

Brittany Strickland led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points and Ebony Johnson grabbed 11 rebounds.

The Lady Bears grabbed a total of 42 rebounds to A&M 55 and 11 assist for Miles.

Miles first home game is November 27 at 6 p.m. on the campus of Miles as they host the Lady Tigers of the University of West Alabama at Knox-Windham Gym.
