| LADY BEARS SPLIT ROAD TRIP WITH WIN OVER ALBANY STATE |

ALBANY, GA – The Lady Bears split on the road with its victory over the Lady Rams of Albany State University 57-42 Thursday night at the HPER gymnasium. Miles improved its overall record to 12-7, 9-5 in conference play and Albany State fell to 4-14, 4-9 in the SIAC. Junior center Brandy Gillespie (Tarrytown, GA) and junior point guard Ashley Orphey (Soperton, GA) led Miles with 13 points apice. Gillespie grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds and blocked 3 shots and Orphey had 5 boards. Senior forward Cyntauria and guard Cyntonia Jones (Ellenwood, GA) added 8 and 7 points, while sophomore center Sammeika Thomas (Birmingham, AL) scored her 6 points from the free throw line. Senior guard LaQuitaWilliams (Montgomery, AL) pitched in 5 more points. Miles led at halftime 27-19 and out scored the Lady Rams 30-23 in the second half. The Lady Bears hit 16-of-42 shots from the field and went 20-of-30 at the free throw line. Miles shot 50% (5-of-10) in 3-pointers. The Lady Bears out rebounded Albany State 41-36, but turned the ball over 21-20 times more. Nafeesha Frost led the Lady Rams with a game-high 16 points. Miles will be back in action on Thursday, February 4 in Jackson, TN, as they play Lane College Lady Dragons at 5:30. |
