TUSCALOOSA, AL – Miles men’s basketball team got out gun Monday night by the Tigers of Stillman College 57-48 at Birthright Gym.

Miles (1-14; 1-11) trailed at halftime 26-19, as they hit 37.5% of its shots from the field and 25% from the foul line. Stillman (7-3; 6-3) shot 33.3% from the floor and 63.6% at the line.

For the game, the Golden Bears hit 18-of-49 shots from the floor and made 9-of-14 free throws and Stillman scored on 20-of-48 shots and 11-of-20 free throws. The Golden Bears out rebounded the Tigers 41-33, but turned the ball over 26 times to Stillman 17.

Freshman forward Demetrius Finklea (Vreden Burgh, AL) led the Golden Bears with a double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds and hit 6-of-7 free throws. Junior point guard Rahim Barnes (Tuscaloosa, AL) added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Sophomore center D’Jari Nelson (Chicago, IL) scored 6 points, 5 boards and blocked 8 shots.

Skyler Williams and Lajay Sears scored 14 points each to lead the Tigers.

Miles will play Benedict College at home in Fairfield on Thursday, January 21 at Knox-Windham Gym. The game is scheduled for 7:30.
