Newberry, a junior from Oxford, AL, struck out eight in the complete game win and only three hits registered against him came in the six inn. The Golden Bears ripped off 10 hits and scored three runs in the second and third, two in the fourth, fifth and six. Derek McElroy finished game one three-for-three with one run scored and four RBI’s. Joshua Moore was two-for-four with one run scored and one RBI. Five Golden Bears had one hit each in the game. Miles fell behind 1-0 in the second game as Alex Elrod gave up two-hits and a stolen base in the first inning. Miles answered to take the lead with six runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and one in the six. Cory Wilkins finished two-for-two with two runs scored, one RBI and walked twice, while Kelven Middlebrook went two-for-three, scored a run and throve in two RBI’s. Four other Golden Bear players had one hit apice. Alex Elrod (2-1) picked up the victory with a complete game, allowing six hits and two earned runs. Miles College is scheduled to play a double-header with Albany State University on Sunday at 12:00 noon at Rickwood Field. |
