Fairfield, AL – Junior guard Cyntonia Jones scored a game-high 18 points to lead four Miles Lady Bear players in double figures as the team won it’s fifth straight game last night 78-63 over Benedict College Lady Tigers at Knox-Windham Gym. The Lady Bears improved their overall record to 10-12; 7-10 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Benedict College falls to 7-14 overall and 5-12 in conference play. Miles was down 37-40 at the break, with Ashley Orphley and Sade Odutola hitting 8 points each and Megan Morris scored 14 points for Benedict. Miles hit 42.4 percent of its shots from the field and 80 percent at the free throw line. Benedict shot 39.5 percent from the floor and 46.2 percent from the line. For the game, the Lady Bears hit 30-of-76 (39.5%) shots from the floor, 5-of-17 (29.4%) 3-pointers and 13-of-23 (56.5%) free throws, while Benedict shot 33.3% (20-of-60) from the field and 77.3% (17-of-22) from the foul line. Miles had a team low for the season 11 turnovers to Benedict’s 27 and Benedict grabbed three more rebounds (49-46) than Miles. Sade Odutola scored 16 points and grabbed 7 boards, while Brandy Gillespie had a game- high 10 rebounds, 4 blocked shots, 2 assist and 2 steals. Ashley Orphley dished out a game-high 8 assist and scored 14 points and 3 steals. Sade Odutola added 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Cyntauria Jones hit 11 points. Megan Morris scored 17 points to lead Benedict College Lady Tigers. |
