Cyntonia Jones

Columbia, SC – Cyntonia Jones scored 15 points to pace the Miles College women’s basketball team over Benedict College 55-50 tonight at HRC Gymnasium. The Lady Bears improves to 6-10; 3-7 in the SIAC, while Benedict falls to 4-9; 2-7 in the conference.

Miles went into the locker-room at halftime up 35-26 while shooting 54.5% from the field and Benedict hitting 44% of its shots. The Lady Bears finished the game hitting 36% from the floor and 66.7% from the free throw line. Benedict ended with 32.1% from the field.

Ashley Orphey added 13 point and Sade Odutola and Jessica Franklin scored 9 and 7 points each, while pulling down 5 rebounds apice.

Ashley Price led the Lady Tigers of Benedict College with 16 points and Utivia Barnes had a double-double 15 rebounds and 14 points.

Miles Lady Bears will travel to Augusta, Georgia to play Paine College Lions on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00.
