| Miles Drops Shootout with Albany State, 76-73 |

Albany, GA – The Miles College men’s basketball team suffered a 76-73 setback to Albany State University on the campus of Albany State on Saturday.Senior guard Flawaan Flaggs scored a game-high 34 points on 11-of-19 shots, 4-of-9 three pointers and 8-of-15 free throws. Junior forward Eddie Ishman chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and senior guard Leon McKinney added 13 points. Sophomore center D’Jari Nelson grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds and blocked 5 shots. Miles (0-3; 0-1) went to half up 31- 30, Flaggs scored 15 of his 34 points while coming off the bench. The Golden Bears hit 14-of-31 for its shots for 45 percent from the floor and 25 percent from the charity stripe. Albany State (2-1; 1-0) hit 11-of-29 shots from the field for 38 percent and 6-of-8 for 75 percent from the foul line. The second half would see the Golden Rams pick-up their largest lead of nine points with 8:26 left, but the Golden Bears would come back to re-take lead 66-65 with 4:15 to go on McKinney’s 3-pointer. Flaggs hit the front end of a one-one free throw to put Miles up 73-72 with 29 seconds left, before turning the ball over and Eddie Ishman foul to put Oscar Morris of Albany State at the line for two free throws. Morris knock down both free throws with 13 second left to put Albany State up 74-73. Chester Ryan scored the final basket with 1 second left for the final 76-73 score. Sean Glenn led Albany State with 19 points and James Clark and Scheraun King added 14 points apiece. The Golden Bears next game is Monday, December 1 in Fort Valley, Georgia, as they play the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University at 8:00. |
