Miles Golden Bears Drop Season Opener 95-69 to Southeastern Louisiana PDF Print E-mail
Hammond, LA – Dexter LeFore scored 15 of a game high 24 points in the second half to lead three Golden Bears in double figures as Division l Southeastern Louisiana University (1-1) defeated Miles (0-1) 95-69 in Miles opener Monday night at the University Center.


Lefore led the team with nine rebounds, while Leon McKinney added 17 points, five rebounds and Flawaan Flaggs recorded another 12 points. LeDarius Welch went 4-of-4 from the free throw line, as Lefore and Mckinney hit 3-of-3 and Flaggs 2-of-2 in free throws.

Miles shot just 32 percent from the floor in the first half and went to half down 23-46. The Lions would hit 52 percent of their shots. For the game the Golden Bears shot 34 percent from the field, 32 percent in 3-pointers and 100 percent from the free throw line while hitting 12-of-12. The team committed 22 turnovers to Southeastern Louisiana 19.

Kevyn Green led Southeastern Louisiana with 19 points and Deshawn Patterson added 17. Warrell Span scored the only double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Lions.

Miles will return to action on Monday, November 24 at 7:30 p.m. when they face the Tigers of Tennessee State in Nashville and from there to play Albany State and FortValleyState. The team will not play at home until Saturday, December 6.
