Miles takes 2007 NCAA Div II Football Attendance Title PDF Print E-mail
Friday, July 25, 2008
miles_laborday07.gifFairfield, AL –Miles College has earned the 2007 title as NCAA Division II football attendance leader, with an average of 13,225 fans per game. Miles’ two largest games last year were the Labor Day Golden Classic with Tuskegee University (39,583) at Legion Field and homecoming with Lane College (13,977).

“An increase in attendance is a good.  Our fans play the biggest part in their support of the team. They travel well with us and come out in numbers for home games. Plus, we play an exciting brand of football.” Augustus James, Director of Athletics said. “The Labor Day Golden Classic game with Tuskegee University at Legion Field last year played a huge part in our attendance numbers.”

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference won its fifth consecutive Division II football attendance title, with Miles College and Tuskegee University leading the way.

The SIAC had seven (7) teams finish in the top 25 in team attendance out of 144 total teams in Division II. Miles College (1st), Tuskegee University (2nd), Morehouse College (7th), Albany State University (13th), Clark Atlanta University (23rd), Fort Valley State University (24th), and Benedict College (25th) led the way for the conference to achieve its fifth consecutive football attendance title and ninth out of the last ten years.
