Five Softball Players Named to the SIAC All Academic Team PDF Print E-mail

Tuscaloosa, AL – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2008 SIAC Softball All Conference & All Academic Team on Wednesday, April 16 at its Spring Sports Championship Banquet hosted by Stillman College in Birthright Auditorium.

The Lady Bears had no players named to the All Conference Team, but racked up on the All Academic Team with five. Leading this group of student athletes was senior outfielder Jessica Harris an Education major with a 3.93 GPA, sophomore outfielder Teresa Erskine, Education major (3.76 GPA), senior infielder Jessica Insel, Education major (3.66 GPA), sophomore infielder Abbey Copeland, Accounting major (3.56 GPA) and sophomore outfielder Talisa Erskine, Math major (3.51 GPA).

Along, with the academic honors the Lady Bears finished the regular season with an overall record 26-14 and 14-2 in the SIAC (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) to capture the SIAC Western Division Title and the #1 seed heading into Spring Sports Championship play.

The softball team will play on Thursday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. on Stillman College campus, as they await the winner from the Kentucky State University and Paine College game. The winner from the Miles game will move on to play on Friday, April 18 at 12:00 p.m. on the same field.
