FAIRFIELD, AL – Junior guard Flawaan Flaggs scored a team-high 20 points and hit 13-of-14 shots from the foul line to lead Miles College to a 73-69 win over Paine College Saturday night at Knox-Windham Gym in Fairfield.

The Golden Bears moves up to 9-8 overall and 7-6 in the conference and Paine falls to 7-9 overall and 6-6 in SIAC play.

The Lions took a 37-29 lead to the locker room at halftime, as Flaggs would hit 10 of his 20 points and went 6-of-6 from line for the half. Miles shot 23.5 percent from the field and hit 66.7 percent from the line, while Paine shot 38.7 percent from the floor and 90.9 percent from the foul line.

For the game, the Golden Bears hit 23-of-73 shots form the floor and 69.7 percent on 23-of-33 free throws, while hitting 4-of 19 3-pointers. The Lions shot 40.3 percent in field goals and 62.5 percent from the line.

Leon McKinney, Jr added 19 points and 11 rebounds, while DeMario Williams grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds and blocked three shots. Justin Harris cane off the bench to scored another 9 points and 9 rebounds and Gaylon Hayden hit 8 points before getting into foul trouble.

Julian English hit a game-high 25 points to lead Paine College.

The Golden Bears will travel to Fort Valley, Georgia to play the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University on Tuesday, January 29 at 8:00.
