COLUMBIA, GA – Junior guard Flawaan Flaggs led Miles College (5-4; 3-2) men’s basketball team with 27 points in Benedict College (5-1; 3-0) win of 78-67 tonight at B.E. Mayes HRC Arena.
The game was tied 31-31 at halftime, with Miles shooting 47.8 % (11-of-23) from the floor and 7-of-10 for 70 % from the free throw line. Miles hit 50 % of its shots from behind the arc. Benedict hit 32% of their shots and 88.9% from the line.

The Golden Bears feel behind by as much as 10 points with 9:58 left, before Justin Harris  3-pointer would put Miles 26-25 with 4:28 left. Charles Gibbs jumper put Benedict back ahead 29-27 at the 3:20 mark and Reggie Griffin lay-up tied the game at 31-31 with 1:42 left.

For the game, Miles hit 43.6 % of its shots by going 24-of -55 and 71.4 % in free throws on 10-of-14 shooting. Miles hit 9-of-17 shots from behind the arc for 52.9 %. The Tigers hit 30-of-63 shots from the floor and 89.5 % from the line. Benedict out rebounded the Golden Bears 39-22, while Miles turned in 18 turnovers.

Flaggs scored 23 of his 27 points in the second half, while going 9-of-16 from the floor and 6-of-10 in 3-pointers and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Justin Harris and Gaelon Hayden added 14 and 12 points each. Hayden and Jeremy Cody had 5 rebounds apice for the team.

Charles Gibbs scored 22 points to lead Benedict College, while Martinis Woody pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Golden Bears will play Paine College on Thursday, January 1 in Augusta, Georgia at 8:00.
