Donald “D.C.” Crawford is a product of the Birmingham, Alabama School System, musician, author and educator has been a Band Director for over 34 years, 32 of which he has spent directing the high spirited P. D. Jackson-Olin High School Marching Band of Birmingham, Alabama.
Among “D.C.” Crawford many accomplishments is that he is one of the youngest members inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the School of Music Hall of Fame at Alabama State University, where he earned his Bachelors and Master Degrees in Music Education. “D. C.” Crawford performed with the 291st and the 283rd Army Band in Fort Bennett, Georgia. “D. C.” is also the author of “The Wheels of the Birmingham Civil Rights Movement.” The book is the life story of his father, Worcy Crawford, the first-known black bus owner in Alabama, who played a role in the civil rights movement.
“D.C.” Crawford bands have received standing ovations as well as superior ratings in band competitions throughout the southeast. “D.C.” will bring that same high energy, ‘jamming in the stands’ style that he is well known for to the Miles College Purple Marching Machine Band. Come join us.
